Studio

Two people, one room, a lot of cables

Beatlezhis started in 2016 as a way to pay for a field recording habit. It is still two people: one who records and edits, one who builds the instruments and writes the documentation.

What we believe

Most sample libraries are too large and too vague. Ten thousand files with names like whoosh_final_04.wav cost more time to search than they save. We would rather release forty sounds you reach for than four thousand you audition once.

That means our catalogue grows slowly. A release takes between four and eleven months, and roughly a third of what we record never ships because it does not survive the editing pass.

Equipment

Two matched small-diaphragm pairs, a large-diaphragm condenser, a contact microphone and a hydrophone, into a four-channel recorder. Everything is captured at 96 kHz / 24-bit and archived as raw takes before any processing. We do not use noise reduction on source material — if a take is noisy, we record it again.

How the shop works

The catalogue is small enough that we can keep it accurate: twelve current titles, each with a version number and a change log. Purchases are one-off. There is no subscription, no account to create and no licence server to phone home.

Licensing

Every purchase includes a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive licence.

What is allowed?

Use in commercial and non-commercial productions without additional payment: music releases, film, television, games, podcasts, installations and client work. You may edit, process, pitch and combine the sounds freely. No attribution is required, though it is always welcome.

What is not allowed?

Redistributing the files as a sample library, selling them as part of a competing product, or making them available on a file-sharing service. The licence covers productions, not the raw material itself.

Multiple seats and education

A standard licence covers one workstation. Studios needing five or more seats, and educational institutions, are invoiced at a reduced per-seat rate — write to the address below with the titles and the number of seats.

Broadcast and sync

No additional clearance is needed for broadcast. If your distributor requires a signed cue sheet or a written licence confirmation, we provide one on request.

Refunds

Fourteen days from purchase, provided the archives have not been downloaded. If a library does not do what the description says it does, write to us and we will refund it whether or not you have downloaded it — that has happened twice in nine years and both times the description was at fault.

Frequently asked

Which formats are included?

Every release ships as WAV at 48 kHz and 96 kHz, 24-bit, with the raw takes where they add something. Instrument titles also include Kontakt and Decent Sampler patches, and always the raw samples so you can build your own.

Are the files watermarked?

No. There is no watermarking, no licence server and nothing embedded in the audio.

Can I pay by invoice?

Yes, for orders over $150 and for any educational purchase. Send the titles, your billing address and a VAT number if you have one.

Do you take custom work?

Four projects a year. Bespoke recording for a production that needs sounds nobody else can license. Describe the brief and the deadline and we will say honestly whether it fits.

Something is wrong with my download

Check the checksum file first — it catches almost everything. If a part is truncated, reply to the order email and we will re-issue the links the same day.
